There are so many habits and routines that make up our day-to-day lives. From listening to the news and having  tea before heading out the door to work, to making sure you get to the gym a few times a week, to how you relax in the evening. These are all different routines and habits we have that help us get through the days, weeks, and months. Humans work better with a routine, and when you combat with blemishes, they’ll respond much better if you take time for your skin daily, instead of just when you have time for it. Your skin is the biggest organ in your body, and it should be taken care of well, especially if you suffer from breakouts.

Here are 5 reasons why you should take the time to follow a daily skincare routine.

  1. Beautiful skin takes time

Let’s be honest. You won’t achieve more beautiful looking skin overnight. Your skin will need time and a regular routine to give it the nutrition it needs to look its best. This is why a daily skin care routine is very important!

Customize a routine for your skin’s needs and make sure that you do it daily. Regularity and patience is the key! Take some time each day to show your skin love by implementing a skincare routine and you are well on your way to achieving healthy and gorgeous skin.

  1. We shed skin cells daily

The outermost layer of our skin continually changes because the older cells that we see on the surface make way for the newer skin cells from the lower layers. This means that the healthy and vibrant skin you have today can suddenly look dull and tired tomorrow as your skin cells get ready to shed and fall off. Keeping a constant skincare routine will help maintain your skin’s glow so you can look your best always.

  1. Prevention is easier and cheaper

Taking good care of your skin health daily will save you money in the long run. Skin problems like hyperpigmentation, deep wrinkles, acne scarring, or other skin issues can be prevented with a daily skincare routine and can stop costly trips to a dermatologist or plastic surgeon in the future.

  1. We have different skin

You may know someone with gorgeous skin but doesn’t have a skincare routine at all. Blessed them for having great DNA! Unluckily, that’s not the reality for most of us. Different skin types and a lot of issues affect our skin health which explains why our skin’s maintenance level is not the same as others. Put in the extra effort to keep your skin healthy and beautiful by doing a personalized skincare routine daily. It’s worth it!

  1. It boosts your confidence

Your face is the first part of your body that others look at and having beautiful skin to show off will make you feel good about yourself. It doesn’t even matter what you wear or if you’re having a bad hair day. Great skin can make a big difference in your look! Make sure that you are regular in your skincare routine to keep your skin looking its best all year round.

Benefits of having a consistent skincare routine

Your skin will be in better condition:

You need to respect your skin. Faithfully keeping a skincare routine will help to prevent acne, treat wrinkles, & improve the clarity of your skin.

Your skin will work harder for you:

It might sound silly, but it’s true. When you take care of your skin, your skin will take care of you.  Did you know that your skin is actually working tough while you sleep to regenerate? Cell turnover is faster at night and this allows your products to do their job better. If you are careful and make a point to wash your skin and remove your makeup every night, your skin will be better able to repair itself, while treatment products and moisturizers will absorb more deeply.

Your glow will start to come back:

Dullness. At some point, most of us will notice a decrease in skin glow. It doesn’t have to be that way, though. If you make exfoliation a regular part of your skincare routine, you’ll get your glow back. Cell turnover slows down as we age, so it’s vital to help the process along so our skin can shed dead cells. By exfoliating that top layer of skin, over time your skin will look healthy and fresh once more.

With consistency comes visible results:

How many of you have bought the latest skincare item promising results only to use it a couple of times before declaring it ineffective? People get so caught up in the idea of miracle ingredients or finding the fountain of youth that they expect immediate results. Dramatic results will not happen overnight. It can often take weeks of consistent use for noticeable results to happen. The key to seeing those changes is to stick to your skincare regimen.

Those results you’re beginning to see? They will be easier to maintain:

I like to think of a skincare routine like a workout routine. When you first start your workout routine, you might not see results those first few days. The same is true with a regular skincare regimen. Your skin will continue to look healthy and revitalized as long as you don’t give up on the routine.

What skincare routine should i use?

Cleanser

In the morning, start by splashing your face with warm water or, if you must, wash with a mild face cleanser designed for your skin type.

Toner

Toners also play an important role in assuring you have a smooth and clean facial look.  It can help to balance the potential hydrogen or pH, level of your skin. It is most useful for people with acne-prone skin.

Antioxidant serum

The face Serum is your friend. It brings new skin cells to the surface and stimulates cell growth brightening your skin. A face serum increases the production of collagen, the main ingredient in keeping your skin wrinkle-free and young. When used regularly before bedtime, a face serum can brighten a dull complexion and make pores look smaller and increase moisture levels.

Eye cream

It’s important to apply an eye cream at least every night, if not twice a day, starting in your 20s. It’s about keeping the health and thickness of the eyelid skin. Refining the skin quality in this area early on ensures that the eyelid skin does not easily lose laxity and its smooth look later on.

For best results, regularity is key. Regular use of eye cream over time will keep the eyelid skin elastic and can improve or stop against some fine lines or collagen loss. Remember: Nothing is magical. Results don’t occur overnight. You can further care for the delicate skin around your eyes by selecting an eye cream with SPF or applying sunscreen every day.

Remember to wear sunglasses when outside to protect against UV-light damage and lines that can creep up around the corners of your eyes from squinting.

Spot treatment

Acne spot treatments differ in active ingredients check your product packaging or consult your dermatologist for the best way to use it. Prescription-strength benzoyl peroxide, a common acne spot cure ingredient, has a one- to three-hour working time. Any cream that comes in contact with it before it has completed its work will likely stop the active ingredient from working properly. Remember that acne spot treatments can dry out your skin, so always use only on spots where you need it.

Moisturizer

Yes, everyone needs a moisturizer, even if you have oily skin. Even though your body has its own natural oiling system consisting of glands that secrete oil (or sebum) to maintain a protective coating against severe outside conditions and infections, most of us do need extra hydration after the havoc that sun, weather and harsh chemicals wreak on our skin. Most specialists recommend that the best time to apply a moisturizer is while the skin is still damp, so the earlier you go through applying your serum and treatment, the faster you’re able to lock in much-needed hydration with your moisturizer.

If you’re using an acne spot treatment, you may want to skip those areas when using your moisturizer to make sure the ingredients in it won’t interfere with the active ingredients in your spot treatment.

Sunscreen

Sunscreen should be the last step in your daytime skin care routine if you’re using a physical or mineral sunscreen, which works by physically blocking the UV rays. This step becomes difficult when you’re using a chemical sunscreen.

Chemical sunscreens have to be absorbed into the skin to be effective, so applying after your moisturizer will delay and hinder that. However, if you apply your chemical sunscreen before your moisturizer, your moisturizer will not work as well either because the skin is covered with chemical sunscreen.

So to get around this, and for many other reasons, always use a physical sunscreen with zinc and to apply it after your moisturizer. Zinc is safe, effective and provides the widest protection against UVA and UVB rays.

As for those who like using chemical sunscreens, try to look for formulas that offer moisturizing benefits, so you can get your daily hydration needs while defending your skin.

Skin is the largest organ of your body. Your skin requires too much attention. You should follow all the above routines for beautiful flawless skin.
